What to Expect During a Fiber Installation
This guide walks you through what to expect before, during, and after your fiber installation so you can feel prepared and confident on installation day.
Stage 1
Pre-Installation (Home Assessment)
About 1–2 weeks before your installation, a technician will visit your home for a pre-assessment.
You will receive a courtesy call about 30 minutes before arrival.
During the pre-assessment, technicians may need access to:
- Master bedroom closet
- Laundry room
- Communication panel
- Areas where mesh Wi-Fi may be installed
- Attic (if applicable)
- Outside perimeter of the home
Pre-Assessment Requirements:
An adult (18+) must be present full duration
Pets must be secured
Photos may be taken for documentation
Stage 2
Installation Day
You will receive a courtesy call about 30 minutes before arrival.
What Happens During Installation:
- Review equipment placement from the pre-assessment
- Confirm access to work areas
- Review any existing conditions in the home
- Install and mount GRTI equipment (drilling may be required)
Customer Responsibilities:
- Secure all pets
- Clear the work areas
- Ensure an adult is present for the full appointment
Additional Details:
- Before-and-after photos will be taken
- You may be asked to download the CommandIQ app
- A helpful brochure will be provided
- Technicians will clean the work area before leaving
Stage 3
Rescheduling Conditions
Your installation may need to be rescheduled if:
- Work areas are blocked or unsafe
- Pets are not secured
- No authorized adult is present
- Required access areas are unavailable
Stage 4
After Installation
GRTI will follow up within 30 days to ensure everything is working well and answer any questions.
Tips for a Smooth Installation
- Clear space around closets, walls, and outer areas ahead of time.
- Make sure attic access is available if needed.
- Plan for a 2–4 hour window for installation.
- Ask questions during the walkthrough — technicians are happy to help.

- Fiber installation may require drilling and wall mounting.
- Equipment placement is planned during the pre-assessment.
- Mesh Wi-Fi may be recommended for larger homes.
