Public Service Announcement
Gila River Telecommunications, Inc. (“GRTI”) Public Service Announcement regarding available services and federal discount programs for the Gila River Indian Community.
Available Services
Gila River Telecommunications, Inc. (“GRTI”), the local telephone and high-speed internet service provider to the Gila River Indian Community, Arizona, announces the following services and functionalities are available in these areas:
A voice grade service access telephone line that allows local calling usage to the Gila River Indian Community local and extended calling area with Touch Tone (“Dual Tone multi-frequency, or DTMF”) capability for single party service. Along with the service is the following:
Access to emergency services such as 911 and enhanced 911 service
Access to operator services and access to long distance carriers (also known as access to interexchange service)
Access to directory assistance
Toll limitation for qualifying low-income consumers
Lifeline & Link-Up America Programs
Furthermore, GRTI supports two federal programs for qualifying low-income consumers, called Lifeline and Link-Up America. These programs provide discounted telephone service for eligible subscribers. To be eligible, one must participate in one of the following programs:
Food Stamps / Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
Medicaid
Federal Public Housing Assistance
Veterans Pension and Survivors Benefit Programs
Bureau of Indian Affairs General Assistance
Tribally-Administered Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TTANF)
Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR)
Head Start (only households that meet the income qualifying standard)
Total household income at or below 135% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines
